Waaaayyyy Cool!
This was a fun project. Challenging but worth it.
Individually poured concrete squares ranging in sizes from 2'x2' to 18"x2'
Thyme ground cover was planted in the 4" gaps.

Joseph said he wanted radical transformation. I think he got it. Irrigation, sod, plants, drip, woodchip. Very please with the final result.

We added two feet to the existing block wall rounded the top and set some tiles to give it character. Spanish style stucco gave it the final touch.

Custom Redwood fencing including the planters.

Concrete was sawcut to give it the "tile like" appearance then stained to make it look new.

Cute & Simple

The grass used to go all the way up to the house, we removed it then installed bendo board to define the new planter & felt fabric to keep the weeds out. Plant material consists of silver sheens, flax, blue dwarf fescues and some lorepetulum. Acorn bark gave it the final touch. Thank's Ally for letting me do my thing.

Fun Fun Fun!
This was a fun design/build project.
I didn't take before pictures because there was nothing there, just an empty back yard. Irrigation, plants and sod where done in only 3 1/2 days. I'll take some more pictures in about a month when everything starts flowering.

This Carpinteria residence is starting to be one of my favorites. Lot's to do here. Front yard is pretty much dialed in. We're thinking about planting some Lorepetulum to the left and right of the garage to add some rich purplelish-reddish colors.

Back yard is alot different than the front, lots of drought tolerant plants. Re-design will be happening soon.

We just started maintaining Lights Beautiful in downtown Ventura.
1'st day was long, lots of weeds to pull and plants to trim. Keep checking the updates it will soon be the nicest commercial landscape in downtown Ventura.

The cool thing about gardening is enjoying what you labor for outside on the inside.
All you need is a few vases and you can decorate your house for pennies on the dollar. This Bird of Paradise arrangement you see here is at least $40 in the store.

Mi Casa, Es Su Casa

This is my house, I used to have lawn all the way to the sidewalk/driveway. It was just to plain for me so I downsized the lawn area and added planter space around it. 5 sprinklers where cancelled and drip was run to the new plants. This saves me time on mowing and Im conserving more water.

Did you know that almost all the veggie's you buy can be easily grown at home.
If you have the space, I say go for it. It's a good hobby to do solo or with the family.

Last year our client started out with a 10ft x 10ft garden, they loved it so much today we expanded it to 20ft x 20ft.

Raised Veggie Bins

I really had a fun time with these veggie bins. This is the first time the Kirby family is doing a veggie garden. I got to share alot about what to plant, when to plant & how stuff grows. Overall this was a pretty neat experience.

Here's two 4ft x 8ft rough red wood raised veggie bins. I installed a laser drip system that will come on automatically from the timer. I mixed 50% compost and 50% existing onsite soil. While I was there I also tuned up the existing irrigation system for front and back yards.

Located on the corner of Ashwood and Telegraph. Carrows Restaurant is one of our newest commercial landscape maintenance accounts. We started maintaining it in December. It was definately a diamond in the rough.

King Residence

Located in the Ventura Foothills, the King residence overlooks the paficic ocean. This landscape was done approximately a year ago. We re-graded, installed irrigation and new sod. Check out the new fire pit!

Native plants that are drought tolerant and can stand super cold temperatures is what you see here. The Bishop residence is fragrant, organic and pleasing to the eye. It attracts both birds and butterflies.

Today was a sweet day, we did a dirt removal job here in Ventura and then used the dirt for our new back yard veggie bin.

Christmas un-decorating

Today we worked at the Bishop residence in Oak View.
We un-decorated a 20' foot living Christmas tree, an olive tree and their home.
Next year I'll take the before pictures.

Bare Root

Now is the time to plant Bare Root fruit trees.
Apples, plums, apricot's you name it.
Why bare root? You get a bigger root system, a bigger tree and it get's established alot quicker. It's also easier to plant since it doesn't come in a giant pot with a bunch of dirt in it.

Money on Trees

Did you know that the average price for Hass avocados are 2 for a $1, sometimes $1 each. Having an avocado tree in your back yard is good for three reasons... 1:the shade 2: the fruit 3: the money you make selling all the ones you cant eat.

This is a perfect example of what you can do to get the most out of your back yard.
What we did here was re-work the irrigation system to accomodate a smaller lawn and the new veggie bins. We down sized the lawn which will help cut back on water and maintenance. Veggie bins were added to organicaly grow veggies. Bendo-board to define planters and bark to keep weeds at a minimum and to hold moisture in for new plants.

When mowing your lawn one of the most important things is to have sharp blades on your mower. Dull blades will make the lawn look brown. Fertilize your lawn at least three times a year and keep tabs on the timer.

Yucca trees are pretty nasty, they start small and cute looking but before you know it they turn into this. Here's Gerardo Sr. taking one out.
When taking out a Yucca always make sure you get the whole thing or else as the governor puts it... I'll be back!

We had just moved back to Ventura, our little Mikki was just a few months old and here's my beautiful wife working away, tilling that ground. That season we harvested: lettuce, squash, watermelon, canteloupe & cucumbers.

Develed in Japan in the 1930's. It is a cross between two American apple varieties, the Red Delicious and old Virginia Ralls Genet (sometimes cited as "Rawls Jennet") apples. Fuji apples have a very long shelf life compared to other apples, even without refrigeration. With refrigeration, Fuji apples can remain fresh for up to 5-6 months. Picked by Mikki just minutes ago.
